Eyes: Her eyes are blue Height: She’s 5’4 Build: She’s slim with slight curves. Naoko is a naturally kind person who wants to do the best by the ones she loves and cares about. This kindness often extends to strangers too. However, she has also built a wall around her heart to protect herself. She never truly gets close to people. At least, not enough to really let them in anyways. It’s only to protect herself from the pain of losing someone. She is very adventurous and tends to find herself in troublesome places because of it. There is a certain thrill that comes from the sense of danger for her. She purposely avoids the “responsibility” of Blanks by refusing to claim a name. She does this due to a martyr complex that stems from her past and the fact that she believes that she can’t handle the pain of a possible break in the bond she would form with another. Instead, she forms temporary bonds with other Blanks as a Sacrifice, there for protecting them from pain, whilst not having to worry about the chance of a break in a bond since once their time together is over, that's it. No long-term effects. She values the Fighter position over the Sacrifice position because without the Fighter, the Sacrifice is almost defenseless with only their Will to protect them. On the other hand, a Fighter can still use spells while alone. She believes it is the duty of Sacrifice to protect the Fighter from injury, so they can keep on fighting. Every time she breaks bond however, she suffers from temporary memory loss that takes form in small things like forgetting where she is going or why she was going there. While it is little things, it all adds up to be enough to interrupt her life for a few days while she recovers. She also suffers from migraines a good portion of the time. Naoko originally grew up in a relatively normal household. Her parents were a Unit called Severance that had met when they were just teens, but grew to love each other before marrying and having Naoko. Her mother, the Fighter, was a kind women who valued bravery and adventure above all else. She was constantly putting herself in dangerous situations as a young teen until she met Naoko’s father, a Sacrifice, who balanced her out. He was the safety obsessed one; the type to look both ways before crossing the street and always worse his seat belt. They showered their only child with love and affection. Unfortunately, for her father, Naoko developed her mother’s sense of adventure, and like her mother, she was constantly getting into dangerous situations. His solution was to take them out on family outing that involved hiking and such. It allowed Naoko get that thrill without actively being in danger. Naoko’s happy childhood came to a screeching halt though with the death of her father. It had been a simple family trip to the local grocery store. Her mother had gone to cross the street, but hadn’t realized that there was an oncoming car nor had the driver realized there was a pedestrian crossing, her father did realize it though. Before the car could hit her mother, he moved as quickly as he could to push her out of the way, but it resulted him being hit instead. Naoko had been walking with her father, so she hadn’t been in the path nor did she react quick enough to move into it. While her mother had only suffered minor injuries, her father suffered a concussion that caused swelling in his brain. He died a week after. Her father’s death caused the bond between them to break and it was too much for her mom. She fell into a deep depression due to the extreme physical and emotional pain. She basically stopped living. Naoko, who was only 13 at the time, was forced to grow up enough to take care of her and her mother. The only time her mother ever talked to her was to warn her to never bond, that the pain was too much, and it wasn’t worth it. This idea firmly planted itself into her mind, which resulted in her avoiding claiming a name later on when she realized that she was a Blank. Eventually, her mother hanged herself in their living room when Naoko was 16. Since she was still considered a minor, she was sent to live with her aunt and uncle. While they were both normal, they were aware of the Unit World and were the ones who approached Naoko about attending the Academy. Until then, it hadn’t been practical for her to attend, but now she could, so she did. It was there that she was told about her probably being a Blank when they realized that she could pair with others and form temporary bonds. Eventually, she began avoid any and all attempts to claim a name by forming temporary bonds over and over. However, with every break, she suffered a little more and more until she developed nearly constant migraines and memory issues. It still wasn’t enough to persuade her into claiming a name. She’s convinced herself that she needs to protect other Blanks by being a temporary Sacrifice, so she can protect them from the pain of battle. Origin: Japan Race/Ethnicity: Japanese.
