PERSONALITY
[attr="class","fbidossiertxtboxy"]Ao is very extroverted, but no one can ever be sure that what they're seeing is how he's really feeling. Despite being so outgoing, he's surprisingly secretive. He'll flirt with anyone, and cheerfully sleep with them too, but that's it. People mean very little to Aodan if they're not in the small group he considers "family" (which includes his gang) - and even some of the gang members don't mean much. He's happiest when doing what he's good at, but things can go south very quickly if he's prevented from doing it. An observer would note that he seems willful, ignorant, and may have a death wish; they'd be partly right. Ao fears few things, is stubborn, and subconsciously has a death wish, but one thing he isn't is ignorant. He's actually very observant and even delights in taking people unaware. Though not outright manipulative, he won't hesitate to take every advantage he finds. When his loyalty is given, it stays forever. He's rather neutral about the unit world, emotionally; he can't help but be part of it - and liking some aspects such as his friends, but in general he avoids it when he can. It's more of a headache than he wants to deal with most of the time. If he ever finds his Fighter, they'll have to fit into one of the aspects of his life (or all but that's rather difficult)...or have to leave. He likes the way things are and has no intention of changing.
HISTORY
[attr="class","fbidossiertxtboxy"]Ao was born in Ireland to Eric Hayes and Deidra O'Neill (a Fighter) three years before his elder brother's mother died. Hayes went to prison, and Deidra moved to a new village to hide from his reach. As a result, Aodan was kept protected and sheltered, and only occassionally spoiled, but he was never told about his father. At eight months, what looked like the joke of a neighbor's child appeared on the palm of his left hand: a scraggily written HOPE stretching from his thumb to his pinkie. No matter how she cleaned and scrubbed, it simply would not come off. She hadn't wanted him to follow her path into the Unit world, but now she could see that their bloodline would not be denied.
Eventually, Diedra found out about Eric's other son, Donavon, and raised Ao knowing about but never seeing his elder brother. Not even a picture or name; just the knowledge he had a brother. He stayed home until he was five, playing with local children at every opportunity. He started school, but he was lonely without being able to check in on his mother whenever he wanted. He passed on to his second year with no problem, his friends helping him whenever he was struggling, and he returned the favor everytime.
His third year was halfway through when his mother's paranoia got out of hand and they moved again, this time to stay with her Sacrifice. Near the end of the school year when he was 13, Diedra heard that Hayes was out and up to his old tricks. She had always kept Ao protected from his father, to the point that she gave him her own surname. She wrote up a letter and bought a plane ticket and pink bunny for her child; the letter was for his brother she told him. Ao got on the plane alone. Diedra was bound to stay by her Sacrifice, who was in turn obligated to remain by the family business. He arrived at the airport in Japan and was imediately lost, then taken to a police station while his brother was located.
The brothers met for the first time ever, and then went back to Ace's hotel room since it was rather late at night. As excited as Ao was to meet Ace, he wasn't exactly the easiest brother to care for. With time, they grew accustomed to each other and developed a rhythm. Aodan started at a new school, and that's where the real trouble for our ray of sunshine started. While he was friendly, some of the "bad" students decided to befriend and take advantage of the foreigner. When they realized how useful he could be, they started working him slowly into the fold - no use scaring the lamb until he's truly caught.
He'd always been kind of secretive in spite of his outgoing nature, so it wasn't suspicious when he said as little as possible about his school friends. Ao met some of his brother's friends and even struck up some friendships of his own among them, but by the time anyone realized the trouble he was getting into, it was too late. Aodan was a willing part of the gang, and even excelled at some of the tasks he had to perform. His first tattoo was the gang's "brand" to show he was part of them. Forever. That tattoo is on the back of his right hand, and he wears gloves all the time to hide his Name and brand - exceptions being when either or both need to be seen.
When he discovered his mom had been killed, he got very drunk, and after losing his ears at 15, Ao decided he liked being the gang's "ambassador" and took over the job full time. It allowed him the release he needed from what he was feeling. In this capacity, he meets with whoever the gang needs him to and does whatever he needs to - including but not limited to seduction, blackmail, murder - to gain what his gang wants from the prospect. Seduction usually works, much to his pleasure. Over the past four years, he's managed to become the gang's most successful ambassador. He took up smoking around the same time he started his job at the amusement park two years ago.
