Not ever. Not because I don't want to experience love and all the magic and wonder that it has to offer, but because I am already whole. ― Claudine Chicheportiche Dedicated Once she sets her mind to a goal there is very little that any outside person or force can do to distract her from reaching it. And despite living a very busy and hectic life she still manages to find time for training and meditation, two things that have stuck with her since her childhood. Polite If there is one trait that most will recognize in her it is her impeccable manners. The Hanazono have always been a very traditional family and they have instilled those values into their new head of the family. Brave There is very little in this world that gives her reason to be afraid, but even when one of those rare things comes along she still manages to push herself through. She is very confident in herself and her own abilities, and would never let something like fear stand in the way of achieving her dreams. Harsh Sometimes in life people are faced with difficult decisions, choices that define who we are as people. She has had to make several such choices in her life, choices that while seemingly cruel at the time would ultimately lead to bigger and better things for the many. She is capable of seeing outside the box, of making those decisions that help the masses even if it means hurting those close to her. Dreamer Above all else she is an optimist, she believes that the world can become a better place but she also understands that sacrifices must be made to make those dreams a reality. Fate. As a child, that word was often my only companion. It whispered to me from dark corners during lonely nights. It was the song of the birds in spring and the call of the wind through bare branches on a cold winter afternoon. Fate. Both my anguish and my solace. My escort and my cage. ― Leslye Walton To tell you the tale of how Hanazono Tsubaki came to be the woman she is today I must first tell you of the circumstances surrounding her birth. Aloyna Gavriila Volkova was her mother, the Fighter, the heir to the Russian Volkova aristocratic family, the brave light in the house of wolves. Renge Hanazono was her father, the Sacrifice, the younger brother to the heir of the Japanese Hanazono aristocratic family, the one far from the things he loves. A matched pair, both bred and raised to be leaders, brought together by fate. The Volkova's were old money and they made their living through smart investments, namely those dealing with the advancement of technology. They were a Fighter Dominant family, with nearly a 98% chance of all their children being Fighters. To keep such a lineage going, and to prevent it from falling slave to the will of the head's Sacrifice, the family created sealing spells to bind the branch family fighters to the main house, and to also bind the head of the family's Sacrifice to the will of the family as a whole. Their sealing abilities soon became their claim to fame in the unit world, and they practiced them in secrete, mastering the art and developing several powerful seals. As their mastery grew so did the demand for their services and the family moved into a new industry. Security seals, binding seals, and anything else you can think of. The branch family Fighters became hired hands offering their services to anyone who could afford them. The years passed and their legacy grew. In 1918 their services were called upon to control the first Unit Prison in Russia, most would come to know this as the Gulag. The Volkova's became the unofficial police force of Russia, tasked with hunting and rounding up rogue units to fill their new prison with. The Hanazono's are equally as anchient as the Volkova's. Though they are primarily made of of Sacrifices, with a nearly 95% chance of every child born to them being a Sacrifice. The first member of the family was what we would today call an engineer, always studying and inventing little odds and ends. His wife was a lover of nature and enjoyed the art of Hanakotoba. They were opposites but they completed one another beautifully. Their children were all instilled with a love of science and nature, taught to always strive to increase their own knowledge and yet always appreciate the simple things in life and to respect the natural order of things. The family first made their mark upon history with the arrival of electricity to Japan in 1878, with the current head at the time being one of the leading figures behind the movement. As the years past the family opened several electrical plants in Japan, securing their position as a wealthy Aristocrat family. As even more time passed the family ventured into nuclear power and opened several nuclear plants all over the world. One of the most famous being the plant in Pripyat, Russia named Chrenobyl. It was this business move that helped them establish their name in Russia and also start their long and yet tentative friendship with the Russian Volkova family. When Chrenobyl was destroyed and Pripyat left a hazordous waste zone the Hanazono's called upon the Volkova's to clean the area up. Though to this day the area still remains quarantined off and a no fly zone since the regular world does not know of the Unit one and their abilities. Though it wasn't until the birth of both Aloyna and Renge did the two families become officially united. When it was discovered that the two were a matched pair their engagement announcement was quick to be released. The two were raised by their respective families until the age of twenty when Renge went to Russia to wed his wife. Despite having spent most of their lives apart the two fit together almost instantly and became a tightly bound unit and four years later they brought their daughter into the world, named Diana Vasilisa Volkova by her mother and Tsubaki Hanazono by her father. She was born a blank, neither Fighter nor Sacrifice. Though since she would be her mother's heir to the Volkova family it no surprise that she spent her childhood acting as a Fighter and undergoing her families strict training. She learned ancient sealing spells, and how to weave her words into deadly weapons as well as undergoing physical training. The Volkova's did not tolerate weakness of any kind, and especially not in one who might one day be their leader. At the age of six she makes her first friend. Little Katya was a servant in the branch house, an orphan taken in by her family after the death of her parents. Katya was blind, alone, and afraid. Diana took her in under her wing, and even though she was a Figher herself she claimed the little girl as her own. Her family (finding the whole situation 'cute') let her have her way, for Katya was of no real use to them and most were eager to please the young heiress. Soon after bringing Katya to her side Diana meets her next friend a Sacrifice by the name of Mischa. Mischa's mother was bonded with one of Diana's second cousins and the young boy spent most of his time at the family home while his mother and her partner did whatever job the family required of them. The three children despite all coming from different backgrounds managed to create a strong friendship that has lasted through the years. When Diana is thirteen the Russian Seven Moons makes its move against the Aristocrats. Russia is at war with itself and as a precaution Diana is sent to Japan to live with her father's family till the danger is over. Katya is allowed to go with her but Mischa is left behind and for the time being the circle of friends is separated (though not broken by any means). In Japan Diana is cast aside and she becomes Tsubaki, granddaughter to the Hanazono family head and niece to its heir. Her first years in Japan were perhaps her hardest, despite knowing Japanese it was difficult to adjust to life there. The Hanazono's were a strict family, they hid their emotions behind pretty smiles and soft words, and most of the family shunned the strong willed Fighter. It is only the hope that she will return to Russia one day that keeps her strong through it all. At age fifteen she along with the rest of the Unit world learns of the genocide of the entire Aristocrat population of Russia. Her whole family, her whole world is gone, and she is left a broken little girl. Katya is her anchor, her rock, and Tsubaki clings to the younger girl's presence with new found desperation. Not even two months later her uncle dies, leaving the Hanazono's seemingly without an heir. It is another month before Tsubaki is formally named as the next heir to the family. As a blank she possess the ability to be a Sacrifice and it is not long till her new training begins. She learns to bend even the strongest of Fighers to her will, and how to hide her emotions behind a carefully crafted mask. She learns the delicate art of Hanakotoba, a necessity of all Hanazono family members and also is schooled in business and the principles of engineering. It is a crash course with no room for failure. Her grandmother is aging and the family needs a decent heir as soon as possible to stave off other Japanese families hoping to leach off the family's loss. At eighteen she becomes the official head of the Hanazono family when her grandmother finally succumbs to death. She holds the power and wealth of an entire family in her grasp and with revenge in her mind and pain in her heart she begins to plot and plan. Now she is twenty eighty, and has spent ten long years leading the Hanazono family. Extra Hanazono means in the garden, and the family has a love of all things nature and even goes as far as to name their children after flowers. The Hanazono family crest is an edelweiss flower, it was picked by the wife of the first head for it means courage/power and grows wild in the mountains the family calls it's home. Each family head is crafted their own personal crest to wear at all times, Tsubaki's is a simple edelweiss flower carved from pearl with a pure gold center. |
