Edelweiss is the symbol of the Hanazono's and grows naturally in the mountains surrounding the family home.
Current Family Head: Tsubaki Hanazono
The Hanazono family were among the first units to arrive in the world. However their ancestry dates much farther back than that, and though most written records have since been lost, due to war and such, it is common knowledge among the family members that they were once a minor noble house distantly related to the emperor at the time. It was that tie that first started their growth, but it was the determination of the family itself and the leadership of each family head that they were able to branch off and grow their own wealth and empire. The first member of the family to be a Sacrifice was a man by the name of Norio, who also happened to be the family head at the time. His wife, Masako, though not a unit carried the gene for Sacrifices in her blood. Norio was a lover of knowledge and science, finding that by improving his mind he could become a better leader for his family. In today's society we would have considered him an engineer. Masako was perhaps his complete opposite, she found her happiness in nature, gardening and the art of Hanakotoba, and it was she who began the tradition of naming all the main branch children after flowers.Though they were so different in their pursuits they completed one another beautifully and their children were all instilled with a love of science and nature, taught to always strive to increase their own knowledge and yet always appreciate the simple things in life and to respect the natural order of things. For many years the family prospered quietly, easing their way into the both the unit world and into the regular one.The first time family made their mark upon history was with the arrival of electricity to Japan in 1878, with the current head at the time being one of the leading figures behind the movement. As the years past the family opened several electrical plants in Japan, at last firmly securing their position as a powerful and wealthy Aristocrat family. As even more time passed the family ventured into nuclear power and opened several nuclear plants all over the world. One of the most famous being the plant in Pripyat, Russia named Chrenobyl. It was this business move that helped them establish their name in Russia and also start their long and yet tentative friendship with the Russian Volkova family. When Chrenobyl was destroyed and Pripyat left a hazardous waste zone the Hanazono's called upon the Volkova's to clean the area up. Though to this day the area still remains quarantined off and a no fly zone since the regular world does not know of the Unit one and their abilities. They did not let this minor impasse discourage their business plans however, and still continue to run and operate several electrical and nuclear power plants all over the world.
