Ariella grew up in an orphanage in New York until she was a legal adult. She was considered the problem child due to her temper and behavioral issues. She was constantly being punished, but it didn’t stop her from acting out. She was firm in her belief that her parents were going to get her any day and she would go back to a lavish lifestyle. Of course, it never happened, but she dreamed of it until the day she left the orphanage. One of the things that she was teased mercilessly for was the weird tattoo looking word that had been behind her right ear for as long as she could remember. The people who ran the orphanage had once told her that it had been there when she appeared upon their doorstep at roughly one. She didn’t have many friends in the orphanage, so she traveled to New York City without a single thought as soon as she got out of that place. She was determined to find her family, but she knew she needed money and place to stay meanwhile. So, she turned to stripping. She was actually quite good at it despite her small frame and lack of… curves. She brought in enough money to get herself a small apartment in one of the worse parts of the city. For the next two years, she stripped and made enough money to live on. She became well-known in her trade even. Soon, she had earned enough money to leave her dingy apartment. Kotone On her 21st birthday, she met Kotone. It had been at a party that her fellow dancers had thrown for her and Kotone had been one of their best friends. They had hit it off rather quickly too. The first time they hung out alone, Kotone explained to her that she was apart of something called the Unit World and that the only reason she was telling Ari this was because Ari was too. Since Ari never knew about the world, she never knew about her own ring, which went unchecked and uncontrolled until then. She explained that Ari, like her eventually, would find a partner with a matching name. Kotone explained everything and taught her how to control her ring, introduced her to the Academy, and urged her to learn even more on her own time.
