Shizuya, Faye (Captain of Fortune's Hold)
Long before the amusement park boom appeared in Japan and well after the era of the samurai were no longer needed, there was a time when theft was on an all time high and the free laws were in effect until the Shogun could control the lands and unify them into a solid piece. Pirates ruled land and sea, pilfering villages and creating havens all along the shores. The bravest of the brave would travel further inland to claim more territory and riches. There was a woman who ruled our area before a town was even established here and her haven was right where our amusement park stands today. Her name was Faye Shizuya, The Sea Serpent's Wits and she was rightly named for she could out smart any man or woman that dared crossed her path. With her silver tongue and endless charm, Faye became one of the fastest growing names here on the western shores. She developed a trading post here at this very lot which was sand and water at the time. She protected the entertainers who came for such protection, and the pirates who wanted a new captain had to prove their worth to her before getting the even the lowest job in her crew. One for good trade, she made a trade house and ensured the entertainers were protected at all costs. At the end of the day, she would retreat to this area to drink, challenge some poor fool in a game, and be merry with her crew.
The name Fortune's hold came from a traveling caravan who was ship wrecked while traveling back to India from Chinese shores. A massive storm swept them the wrong way and a tsunami battered their ship and eventually wrecked them out at sea where Faye just happened to cross as she was looking for an older pirate's sunken ship. Once on shore, Faye decided to let these foreigners stay for a small wager. Of course at the time they couldn't pay but they had a way of wooing people into their tents and gaining the cash they needed to get around and pay for their safety until they could leave. Even once they had enough cash to get back home, they made a pact to always come here and perform for Faye and her crew if they were in the area. A pact that the amusement park still holds to this day. Faye found the nick name amusing and called her haven Fortune's Hold, making it a lingering trap for all of her enemies and the bounty for her and her allies.
Fortune's Hold Today
Today, there are no golden coins to take home but there is the treasure of awe and wonder to behold here as the park owners kept Faye's pact allowing for traveling merchants and entertainers to set up business here and remain protected. Right at the exit of the amusement park grounds, you will see a plaque holding a gold replica of Faye's contract to her people where they are free to perform and conduct business as long as they pay their fees and make her crew happy. Today, you will see many traveling wonders make their pit stop here and even merchants who will sell rare goods to people with an exotic taste. So come and see why many call this place Fortune's Hold! You just may walk out with a treasure filled heart of awe and wonder.
